  1. I have been having a great time with my weekly bible study plan. I am reading the book of Mark . I will share some of the lessons and thoughts impressed in my heart as I read and study.

    Mark 3: 13-14
Many times Jesus went up on a mountain, and something always followed.
He was about to choose those who would walk with him in his ministry. It was a very important decision.
So he went up on a mountain – higher to seek his father’s face before he chose those who would become his disciples. He then called out the ones he wanted to go with him and they came to him.
    Note:
He called and they came to him.
God has already positioned those who will walk with you in ministry. When you call, they will come to you. Because God has ordained your paths in ministry to give and be given.

There are miracles Jesus performed in the beginning of this book. And also the well read Parable of the sower. We see how Jesus used stories to communicate deep truths about God and life.

Chapter 5 stood out for me a lot with the introduction of the story of the Mad man of Gadarenes.

When Jesus climbed out of the boat, a man possessed by an evil spirit came out from the tombs to meet him. 3This man lived in the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain. 4Whenever he was put into chains and shackles—as he often was—he snapped the chains from his wrists and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5. Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones.

When Jesus arrived in the town, this man ran to meet him. There was something about the life and person of Jesus that drew all kinds of people to him, The weak, sick, hopeless, broken, depressed, wounded all came to him and sometimes he went in search of them. This was why he came – to set the captives free.
This man’s story stands out a lot because it says he came from the tombs which happened to be his dwelling place.
We all know that graveyards are quiet and has this aura of sadness. This was where this man lived – amongst the dead. He was in chains, wandering and even cut himself with stones in the night time. He had lost his mind and was possessed with a demon that led him to do things he could never do on his own.
This image speaks of mental illness, severe depression, deep pain, loneliness, etc Yet in the midst of all this, he ran to Jesus.

This man was in search of his freedom and deliverance. He could not hold back so he ran to the master. And the the demons that had held him captive began to speak through him.
” When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him. 7With a shriek, he screamed, “Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In the name of God, I beg you, don’t torture me!” 8For Jesus had already said to the spirit, “Come out of the man, you evil spirit.”
In God’s presence, demons are powerless. They knew they were before God himself and their hold over the man’s life was over. Halleluyah
This same man was healed, delivered and became an evangelist.

  2. Wow, thank you so much Coach E.D for making this study accessable to me. As I go through it together with the Discerning the Voice of God book by Priscilla Shirer, God is tremendously stirring my heart and enabling me to enjoy the intentional discipline of Practicing His Presence and tarrying before Him to experience sweet fellowship at His feet that no other place or task I would rush to could offer. Psalm 46:10
